MediumDifficulty
6 stepsSteps

Method

  1. 1 Soak red beans, then simmer them with sugar for 40 minutes, mash them into a thick paste, and let cool.
  2. 2 Mix the flour, baking powder, and sugar with the eggs and fresh milk to form a smooth batter.
  3. 3 Heat the fish mold on the stove and then brush oil evenly on both sides of the mold.
  4. 4 Pour batter to cover half of the mold, place the red bean filling in the middle, and then cover with the remaining batter.
  5. 5 Place in the mold and bake for 3 minutes on each side until the crust is golden brown and crispy, with slightly charred edges.
  6. 6 Remove the pastry from the wrapper, trim off any excess dough around the edges, and serve hot.

With an appliance

  • Oven 1 hr 24 min

Replace step 5: Place the molded fish-shaped pastry on the middle rack of the 220-degree oven for 8 minutes, flip the mold after 4 minutes and rotate the tray; make several pastries at once, but the edges will be less crispy than baking directly on the stovetop.
