What to get ready

  • Photograph of Bread Bread 4 loaves

  • Photograph of Pate Pate 5.6 oz
  • Photograph of Unsalted butter Unsalted butter 2.8 oz
  • Photograph of Cucumber Cucumber 11.3 oz

Method

  1. 1 Reheat the loaf of bread for 4 minutes at 200 degrees to get a crispy crust and a warm interior.
  2. 2 Fry the eggs in a small pan with very hot oil until the white edges puff up and become crispy.
  3. 3 Fry two eggs side-by-side in a small pan so that the two yolks are close together, fitting perfectly into the center of the pie.
  4. 4 Turn off the heat while the yolks are still runny; if the yolks are overcooked, the cake will be dry and lose its flavor.
  5. 5 Slice the loaf of bread and spread butter and pâté on both the inside and outside.
  6. 6 Arrange the eggs, cucumber, pickled carrots, and herbs on a plate, then drizzle with soy sauce and chili.

With an appliance

  • Air fryer 24 min

In step 1, reheat the bread in an air fryer at 200 degrees for 4 minutes, without spraying oil, and flip after 2 minutes for a crispy crust; steps 2 to 6 still involve frying the eggs in a pan and then sandwiching them with pâté and pickled vegetables.
