Banh Tro Lye Water Cake

What to get ready

• Sticky rice 400 g
• Lye water 20 ml
• Banana leaves 12 leaves
• Molasses 120 ml
• Salt 8 g

Method

1. 1 Dilute the lye water thoroughly and soak the glutinous rice in it for 8 hours, until the grains become translucent and can be easily broken by pressing.
2. 2 Rinse the rice several times to remove the ash smell, then let it drain completely.
3. 3 Soften the banana leaves by heating them, roll them into funnel shapes, then scoop rice into them and wrap tightly to form a cone.
4. 4 Boil the dumplings in boiling water for 2 hours, making sure the water always covers them.
5. 5 Remove from the boiling water, rinse with cold water, drain, and let cool. Serve with molasses dip.
