What to get ready

  • Photograph of Flour Flour 560 g
  • Photograph of Chicken eggs Chicken eggs 8
  • Photograph of Unsalted butter Unsalted butter 320 g
  • Photograph of Dry yeast Dry yeast 12 g
  • Photograph of Honey Honey 200 g
  • Photograph of Black sesame Black sesame 24 g
  • Photograph of Sugar Sugar 40 g
  • Photograph of Salt Salt 12 g

Method

  1. 1 Knead the flour with eggs, yeast, sugar, and salt for 15 minutes until a soft dough forms, then let it rise for 2 hours.
  2. 2 Divide the dough into eight small pieces, then roll each piece very thin, about 1 mm thick.
  3. 3 Stack eight leaves, spreading melted butter on each leaf — these eight layers of butter form the entire structure of the cake, so there's no need to reduce the number of layers.
  4. 4 Bake at 200 degrees for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the layers separate.
  5. 5 Pour honey and melted butter over the freshly baked cake, then sprinkle with black sesame seeds and cut into triangles while the cake is still warm.

With an appliance

  • Air fryer 1 hr 20 min

Replace step 4: spray a thin layer of oil onto the sides of the mold, use a 215-degree hot air oven for 20 minutes, rotating the tray at minute 10. The strong airflow shortens the time by about one-third compared to a conventional oven and browns the surface faster.
