What to get ready

  • Photograph of Rice Rice 3.5 oz
  • Photograph of Black beans Black beans 2.8 oz
  • Photograph of Pumpkin Pumpkin 7.1 oz

Method

  1. 1 Soak the black beans for 4 hours or overnight, and throw the soaking water away.
  2. 2 Simmer them for 35 minutes until they crumble, crush them, and push them through a sieve to lose the skins.
  3. 3 Cook the rice for 30 minutes and steam the pumpkin for 15, then mash it.
  4. 4 Combine all three and give it three more minutes. Do not skip sieving the skins out — that is the part a baby cannot digest.
