What to get ready

  • Photograph of Red bean Red bean 11.3 oz
  • Photograph of Glutinous rice flour Glutinous rice flour 5.6 oz
  • Photograph of Rice Rice 2.8 oz
  • Photograph of Sugar Sugar 2.1 oz
  • Photograph of Salt Salt 0.3 oz

Method

  1. 1 Soak red beans for 4 hours, boil them for 5 minutes the first time, then discard the bitter water.
  2. 2 Simmer the beans in fresh water for 1 hour until they are soft and mushy.
  3. 3 Strain the beans through a sieve to obtain a fine powder, discarding the hulls.
  4. 4 Knead the glutinous rice flour with warm water and roll it into small, finger-sized saealsim balls.
  5. 5 Cook the soybeans with the rice for 20 minutes, then add the boiled glutinous rice balls and cook until they float to the surface. Season with sugar and salt.

With an appliance

  • Pressure cooker 1 hr

Replace step 2: simmer the red beans (after removing the bitterness) under high pressure for 20 minutes, then release the pressure naturally for 15 minutes. The rice and glutinous rice balls from step 5 should still be cooked with the lid open to prevent the balls from breaking and to easily control the consistency.
