What to get ready

  • Photograph of Surimi crab sticks Surimi crab sticks 1.6 lb
  • Photograph of Cream cheese Cream cheese 1.8 lb
  • Photograph of Spring onion Spring onion 4.2 oz
  • Photograph of Garlic Garlic 12 cloves
  • Photograph of Soy sauce Soy sauce 3 ¼ tbsp
  • Photograph of Wonton wrappers Wonton wrappers 80 leaves
  • Photograph of Oil Oil 6 cups
  • Photograph of Thai sweet chili sauce Thai sweet chili sauce 8.5 oz
  • Photograph of Black pepper Black pepper 0.4 oz

Method

  1. 1 Let the cream cheese come to room temperature, then mash it with soy sauce and pepper.
  2. 2 Tear the imitation crab sticks into small pieces and mix them with cheese, green onions, and minced garlic.
  3. 3 Place a spoonful of filling in the center of a wonton wrapper, then brush water around the edges.
  4. 4 Fold it into a four-wing shape and press the edges tightly together; if there's even a small gap, the oil will ooze out.
  5. 5 Fry in oil at 170 degrees for exactly 2 minutes until the crust is golden and crispy.
  6. 6 Fry quickly over medium heat because the filling only needs to be hot; frying for too long will cause the cheese to melt completely.

With an appliance

  • Air fryer 35 min

Replace step 5: spray evenly with oil, then steam in a hot air oven at 190 degrees for 7 minutes; the crust will be dry and crispy but not very puffed up.
