  1. 1 Soak the rice for 2 hours, then simmer it in plenty of water for 40 minutes until the grains dissolve completely into a smooth paste.
  2. 2 Mix the minced pork with soy sauce, pepper, and a little cornstarch, then roll into small balls.
  3. 3 Drop the meatballs into the porridge, cook for 5 minutes until they float to the surface, then they are cooked.
  4. 4 Crack a raw egg into a bowl, then ladle hot porridge over it to cook the egg until it's partially cooked.
  5. 5 Sprinkle with shredded ginger, cilantro, green onions, and pepper, and season with soy sauce when serving.

With an appliance

  • Pressure cooker 35 min

Replace step 1: simmer the soaked rice with plenty of water under high pressure for 12 minutes, then release the pressure naturally for 12 minutes, stirring with the lid open until the grains dissolve into a smooth paste. The meatballs in step 3 should still be cooked with the lid open for 5 minutes to prevent them from collapsing.
