What to get ready

  • Photograph of Flour Flour 1.1 lb
  • Photograph of Unsalted butter Unsalted butter 8.5 oz
  • Photograph of Salt Salt 0.6 oz
  • Photograph of Sugar Sugar 0.7 oz
  • Photograph of Honey Honey 2.8 oz
  • Photograph of Chicken eggs Chicken eggs 4
  • Photograph of Oil Oil ⅓ cup

Method

  1. 1 Knead the flour with water, salt, and sugar for 12 minutes, then divide into balls, grease with oil, and refrigerate for 4 hours.
  2. 2 Pull each piece into a thin, translucent sheet, then spread softened butter evenly over the surface.
  3. 3 Fold the film into creases, then coil it into a spiral shape and flatten it, rolling it down to 5 mm.
  4. 4 Pan-fry dry without oil for 4 minutes on each side; the butter in the batter will melt on its own during frying, so do not add oil to the pan.
  5. 5 Serve hot with honey and a soft-boiled egg, Yemeni style.

With an appliance
