  • Photograph of Dry yeast Dry yeast 0.4 oz
  • Photograph of Sugar Sugar 1.7 oz
  • Photograph of Fresh milk Fresh milk 1 cups
  • Photograph of Sweetened condensed milk Sweetened condensed milk ⅔ cup

Method

  1. 1 Knead the dough with yeast, milk, and sugar for 12 minutes, then let it rise for 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  2. 2 Press and knead for 3 minutes to remove all large air bubbles; this step ensures a smooth and dense filling for the steamed bun.
  3. 3 Cut into 4 cm cubes, let stand for another 30 minutes, then steam for 12 minutes.
  4. 4 Let the steamed buns cool completely before frying; they will absorb too much oil if they are still hot.
  5. 5 Deep-fry at 175 degrees for 2 minutes until golden brown and crispy, then dip in condensed milk.

With an appliance

  • Air fryer 58 min

For step 5: evenly spray the cooled steamed buns with oil, fry them in an air fryer at 195 degrees for 7 minutes, flipping them at the 4th minute to ensure golden brown and crispy sides, then dip them in condensed milk.
