What to get ready

  • Photograph of Flour Flour 1.8 lb
  • Photograph of Unsalted butter Unsalted butter 1.3 lb
  • Photograph of Powdered sugar Powdered sugar 12.7 oz
  • Photograph of Chicken eggs Chicken eggs 12
  • Photograph of Coarse salt Coarse salt 0.7 oz
  • Photograph of Baking powder Baking powder 0.7 oz
  • Photograph of Vanilla Vanilla 1 ⅓ tbsp

Method

  1. 1 Beat the salted butter with the powdered sugar for 10 minutes, then add the egg yolks and beat well.
  2. 2 Mix the flour with the baking powder, then sift it in and mix quickly until a soft dough is formed.
  3. 3 Let it chill for 3 hours; the dough, which contains a lot of butter, must be very cold so that it can be cut into shapes without becoming soggy.
  4. 4 Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1.5 cm, then cut it into circles and place them in small paper molds.
  5. 5 Using a paper mold is essential; without a mold, the cake will spill and become thin and flat.
  6. 6 Brush with egg yolk and create a pattern using a spatula, then bake at 170 degrees for 20 minutes.

With an appliance

  • Air fryer 42 min

Replace step 6: lightly spray oil on the salted butter bread, run the steamer at 185 degrees for 13 minutes and flip at minute 7; the yellow side should be flipped earlier, stack in a single layer to prevent the bread from becoming misshapen.
