Soboro-ppang

1 hr 30 min Hands-on time + 1 hr soaking or marinating first
HardDifficulty
5 stepsSteps

Method

  1. 1 Knead the bread dough with yeast, milk, eggs, sugar, and butter, then let it rise for 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  2. 2 To make the soboro crumbs: mix softened butter, sugar, flour, and roasted peanuts crushed with your fingertips.
  3. 3 Rub until the mixture is crumbly, not kneaded into a ball.
  4. 4 Divide the dough into balls, lightly brush the surface with water, then press the dough ball down onto a plate of crumbs to coat it thickly.
  5. 5 Let it rest for a second time for 30 minutes, then bake at 180 degrees for 15 minutes until crumbly and fragrant.

With an appliance

  • Air fryer 1 hr 50 min

Replace step 5: spray a thin layer of oil onto the sides of the mold, use a 195-degree hot air oven for 10 minutes, rotating the tray at minute 5. The strong airflow shortens the time by about one-third compared to a conventional oven and browns the surface faster.
